Not much to say really, Meth is the one drug where they don't even need to exagurate or make up propaganda for their scare tactics. That doesn't mean that it can't be used safely in moderation, like most other substances, but the chance of it screwing with you are a lot higher. Of course, documentaries and news reports are only going to focus on the bad side of it, because that's what the do. There's a portion this documentary won't cover who go out, amp up on the weekend then go back to their lives when Monday comes around, like any other drug, but the documentary will focus on extremes because that's what gets the ratings.
I'll stick with my E thanks Tweakers never even look like they're having much fun anyway, tbh. Whenever I'm around them they just sit there with a confused, angry look on their face grinding their teeth away and staring into the distance.

Obviously there's something people want out of it, whether it's the ability to stay up for 3 days straight, the sex, the concentration, the weight loss, the euphoria, it's when they become obsessed with this and do it more than is safe that you see them sink into addiction and all that goes with it. Meth is a stronger drug than most, which is why you see it happen more often. |
That’s a real naive opinion there...
to say its up to the user on how it controls them is just crap! And typically like most drug users/experimenters the fact you’re able to justify your views like your invincible or know everything about it is very silly!
Medically i could go on and on why it’s no fuckin good, collapsing veins, arrhythmias, increased risks of MI or stroke, clots bla bla
but in respect to its addictive qualities it feeds and overloads the part of the brain that processes and releases dopamine causing a massive dopamine spike!
This is the high/rush part!
Dopamine of course is responsible for many different functions in our bodies but massive influxes of it causes or bodies need for more to prevent the withdrawal state. This is a chemical battle our minds will always find difficult to win. Messing with these chemical processes once is enough to cause an addiction or need for the drug and yes the users say they need the rush/high part of the drug and that is why they choose to use it, but in effect they are just feeding there brains need for more dopamine. Hence the cycle of addiction. some people are obviously are more at risk of addiction (gender, age, race, family history etc) but it is extremely difficult for users to fight their brain chemicals in this instance regardless of what they do!
While high levels of dopamine in the brain usually cause feelings of pleasure, too much can produce aggressiveness, irritability and schizophrenic-like behavior and these are the cases that are of great strain on the health system at present!
not more than 24 hours ago did i walk into a major hospitals ED to find more security/police than doctor/nurses all because there were 8 people messed up on the shit, some i discovered were frequent flyers & abusers but there were 2 such cases that i found to have only used the shit once in the previous 12 hours...
enough of this rant, its taken me to long to write this shit up and i know the majority of you wont really care anyway, but i guess what im trying to say is that this is far more than just a simple 'obsession' its a freaking nightmare and its only going to get worse!
Another quick point!
heroin OD's make up only 10% of the OD cases we see, the majority of OD cases are from psychostimulants and antidepressants which seem to go hand in hand these days!

Definitely an interesting documentary. Glad i've never really enjoyed the effects of meth or any of it's variants.
