hey guys, what do you think about ripping vinyl to cd. i just move to LA from vancouver and i was gonna get all my records mailed down so i can rip them to cd, so i can just use cdjs. but im not to sure of how good the quality would be. i still need to go buy new gear for down here. so if you could recomend any programs such as sound forge or whatever, that would help out. also what would i want the eq levels to sit at?. thanks for the help

quality is going to be only as good as your mixer and cables connecting it to your recording device.
i rip my vinyl using soundforge, recording with 24 bit, 96khz sampling rate to give myself some headroom to prevent clipping while getting a loud recording. then i mix it down to a 16 bit 44.1khz wav file for CD. generally the quality is acceptable, however, i am quite sure there are higher standards out there. (i just can't afford them )

This exactly what I did to my vinyl archive. I'm sure there are much better ways to skin a cat.
