is it a reason project file or a file format native to reason?

Reason does not have the option to export a song as mp3. Just export it as a Wav, then use an encoder of your choice. I use Sound Forge's mp3 export feature, but there's a massive choice of free options out there. Look out for something that can use the Lame encoder.

Is there any way you can bounce the file to iTunes and then convert it to an mp3 there?

Use some free standalone MP3 encoders such as

LAME
BladeEnc

you also should get some GUI for comfort

RazorBlade
RazorLame

..or any other as you see fit

Lame is officially distributed as source code. You can find binaries, just not directly from the lame site. They do have links to binary sites there, or just search for "lame windows" or "lame windows binary" on Google.

I dont know if this would be the economical choise, but i you have WAVLAB or SOUNDFORGE you will have many different choises of converting to mp3. Just open your exported Audio file (opens almost every audio iles there is) and the just save it to an mp3. And its really easy to put in the tags.

I think these audio editor are the best choise!

Cheers
