**UPDATE**[trance] Michael Conway -- the things we do

Here is a better mp3 sample. its still a work in progress but i wanted to see what you guys think. I posted a crap ver. on myspace, so I thought I would upload a 320kbps ver. Its still missing a ton of stuff but the main body is there, Although i don't really like the main melody so that might change

SO HERE IS THE NEW VERSION OF THE LEAD After Ive re worked it.

Well, I'm going to hold on to this one just in case the modified version offers too much preservatives

Soundsfine to me. What else are you going to add?

That's a nice tune you have there.

Wouldn't mind hearing that once it's completed, would even consider playing that.

Maybe it's just the way I hear it but to me the kick sounds a little too high in the mix and might need to be tamed a little. Just my opinion of course.

Cheers

Im digging this! Really enjoying the idea so far. The mid-lowish arp has just come in, maybe its' a bit loud?

Its going pretty slow so ill get it later and take a listen, but i'm liking it so far

Alex

Introduction is good, however I think that it could be a little faster.

The first break is excellent. The string pattern is that strong 'drive it home' type of pattern and it is quite good. Excellent work. I'm not going to say it was too long just because I really like it when trance does that .

The lead needs work, you need to either phase it with a bunch more reeverb/delay or use an entirely new instrument. The climax could've been better, the re-introduction of the drumbeat was abrupt and not at all powerful enough.

First off, Thank you guys very much for listening, and for the creative critism. There is still a load of automation that I have to do over again, I have to work on the buildup/builddowns in the track, Also I need to change the rythem of the melody its doesnt have enough soul in it. It does need a quite a bit of polishing up and a better mix down. You guys have given me the motivation I needed! you guys rock!

Listening ...

- very nice atmospheric pads

- lead sounds like: The Quest - C Sharp in a different key + FX Zone - Synthasia (Nu Nrg remix) . The Synthasia-like lead would probably be better if it were a bit sharper, so chop a bit off the highs and lows.

- okay when the beats comes in a lot of the sounds are bleeding into one another. Some things to try: maybe crank the decay way up on the kick so the sound of it is more separated from everything else. Chop some of the highs off the bassline. The high ends are very crowded.

- Sometimes the lead sounds too 'brassy' and sounds a bit harsh when you're going through the highest notes.
