Exclamation Taking the plunge, getting some deck, but I need some input

Well I have decided to take the plunge and get my self some decks, and more importantly some Technic decks, now I have decided to buy a package deal off 123dj.com and I am considering the following:

A: http://www.123dj.com/packages/turnt...techno10.html this is the cheaper route, the only difference between this and the other package I am looking at are the decks

B: http://www.123dj.com/packages/turntable/ttechno2.html

now my question is: what is the difference between the SL-1200MK 3D and the SL-1210MK2? and also is there any reason one of you pros see this as a bad idea? is the mixer shit? could I find a better price somewhere else? any input is VERY welcome thanks

They are exactly the same decks.
The M3D's just have a button which sets the pitch back to its original position without changing the pitch slider
Thats all.
Go for the cheaper one.

EDIT
The mixer is great.
I had it before I upgraded to Vestax PCV-275
Its a very good mixer.

And the price is great also
Go for it

dvd.. slip mats go in between the platter and u record.. its so ur record doesn't sit there and scrape against the platter.. i guess u could say its to defeat friction?? if you have ever seen a dj turn table in person than u should be able to understand what the slip mat is there for.. im not trying to diss on you but its kinda like asking what a tire on a wheel is for..

and for the guy who is ordering the decks.. i'd be weary of ordering from 123dj.com because they may take forever to ship to you.. Also, stanton has a notice on their website about not buying from them.. its up to you but im just telling u to be careful! PM me and i'll give you another bad story about them.. can't put it up here because it is a legal issue right now..

I have heard good things about www.pssl.com . I have never ordered with them myself, but apparently, they have very good service and will price match with people like 123dj.com... so you might be better off ordering with them.

**UPDATE**

I changed my mind (the guy at the local music shop was very convincing) and decided to go with some VESTAX PDX2000's vs. the technics, and I also picked out a Numark EM-260 for my mixer, I have the mixer, and the TT's are ordered so I should get them in a week, possibly 2, I'm really excited, and I'm spending the little money I do have left over from this expensive purchase and buying up any vinyl I can! wish me luck!@

I hate local music shop people, they always talk ya into junk. You were way better off with your first choice. The PCV 175 is way way way better then the Numark mixer (even tho the KAOSS pad is kewl) and I am hearing a lot of mixed reviews of PDX2000's, they are probally pretty decent decks tho. I would look at trading in that mixer tho.

mmm really? I haven't paid any money yet, what have you heard that isn't tah like of the PDX2000's? They skip less the technics, they start and stop better then technics, they have cooler options the only reason I saw for not getting them was the question of quality and that of the fact that the technics are used basicly EVERYWHERE. Basicly I have the same question about the mixer, why isn't it good? the kaos pad wa spretty nifty but if itsn't quality then I know I don't want it... any further input is very welcome

Well I guess the PDX's are not good for scratching. A lot of DJ's are complaining of too much torque. Also the the pitch fader is very different then the 1200's guess it is really hard to keep having to go from pdx's at home to 1200's at clubs. O ther than that nothing real big, they sound pretty nice to me. Vestax makes good stuff. Numark on the other hand makes what I would call, budget grade stuff, ya save some cash but ya dont get the quality. Also did ya get to use the KAOSS pad? I have used one a few times, really kewl at first but the novelty wheres off and sometimes you become to dependant on the KAOSS pad for effects that you don't learn turntablism tricks.

I would say stick with the PDX's but go for the PCV-175. If down the road you really want a KAOSS pad buy it seperate (it has more effects that way NEway). Just my opinion, maybe verify some stuff with DJTJ, he is a really good source.

I've done the old "straight tonearm vs. S-shaped tonearm" debate before, I'll try and find a discussion on it and put it on my website. That way I can just direct people to it when they ask the same question again.

In the meantime, think this way: S-shaped tonearms give better sound quality and make your records last longer, whereas straight tonearms wear out your records quicker but track better when scratching. Your choice.

I'm afraid I don't know too much about the KAOSS pad, I've never used one. But, I have heard good things about it. Something else to consider is the Alesis AirFX, which is pretty cool, you wave your hand over the top of it to produce effects and it senses the position of your hand.

OK, I've got that straight vs s-shaped argument up on my website. It's in the Hints & Tips section, have a look here if you want:
