ahem...

jz sucked, nic was alright, fifth is a good venue but their drink prices were higher than space.

Wow...... that was so incredibly dissappointing... **cries**

The opener sucker, lackluster tribalish/minimalish/repetitive shit. Nic played like 2 good tracks (the first two he played) and then got stuck in the same repetitive sound all night. Every track sounded the exact same. JZ played all minimal crap. No breaks, no tech, no ZABIELA!! It's like he never showed up. And fifth sucks balls...... 9 for a beer.... "no you can't have a cup of water, but you can buy a bottle (a half pint bottle of water)for 9 bucks"

We got a bunch of cool pictures though.. Will be posted by nrjizer later

edit: I left at 3:30 cause I couldnt take it anymore. Can anyone who was there later refute my statements?

Here's what I thought:

Nic came on first and was rocking it pretty well, I thought. Flawless mixing, good flow, nice dirty house. Crowd was digging it.

JZ came on with a good JZ intro, true to form. He proceeded to drop two tracks back to back that were fucking awesome, and I was loving it (as with the rest of the crowd). But he didn't sustain this momentum, as his subsequent tracks were something closer to minimal techno than anything else. I couldn't dig it--it just didn't sound like Zabiela.

Fifth is a nice club though.

i'll have to say that it wasn't either of theirs best set. a little disappointed as well. but after zabs set at vanguard a month or so ago, it's hard to top it. i left around 4:00 to go to space for sander. his set saved my night, glad i went

Ok, here's my proper review now that I'm rested showered and shaved...

I'm sorry but this was very disappointing. I've seen JZ multiple times in Miami, jacksonville, london, etc and he never disappoints. James is of course one of my top 5 favorites of all time and I never miss a show (except perhaps his pool party that starts in about an hour...way too tired)

We got in around 1 or so and Nic was doing alright warming up the crowd. He played some nice deep house sounds with good rolling base that was easy to just groove to, not really danceable though.

When james got on everyone went nuts and his first half hour or so was great. After that though I just felt like he really lost steam and pulled a sasha, floating over the crowd playing experimental shit that only he likes It just didn't go anywhere and didn't have any of the great tech house funk that jz usually drops. This is the same dj who's signature tracks are Cowbell, OMG its techno music, we have the technology, etc. Those are all old songs but I expected something of the same style. Plus I heard no effects, no scratching, none of the jz techy craziness I've come to know and love.

It was just straight up boring to me so I left at 345...I'm sorry to say it but that's how I felt. It probably picked up for the last hour or two, but I just wasn't feeling it and couldn't stay. shrug.

No scratching or effects???

Thats just wrong. Are you sure there was an EFX unit and the setup was functioning properly?

he did the thank you thing with the effects at the end of the set and final track was Chemical Brothers - Star guitar. But have to agree, mediocre set
