I actually have produced some instrumental hip hop tracks. I have a couple of friends who are rappers so I did some stuff for them but sadly they never got their act together so it was a wasted effort on my part.
I don't see how producing hip hop would differ from producing anything else. I like to try out everything I can.
I've fiddled around with hiphop but it mostly relies heavily on vocals, and good vocalists are hard to find. Crappy vocalists are easy to find though. So I might as well rap myself. And I did
