anyone else get REALLY itchy from a sunburn?

i went to the beach today and wore sunscreen but still managed to burn. i don't have a rash or any bumps, just a little bit red. the itching usually starts a few hours after my sun exposure (if i burn) and feels like mosquito bites, but won't go away unless i slather lotion on myself. used to happen worse as a kid, but then again i probably wasn't so great about applying and re-applying sunscreen.

if this happens to anyone else, do you have any remedies? thanks!

anyways ,i've never had problems w/ itchyness. but i'm assuming any kind of aloevera lotion would be good for it.

Aloe, and liberal amounts of it, also moisturizer.

Just be happy you didn't get sunburnt topless.

I burnt my nipples once. Worst pain in the world.

heh i've been dealing with the same thing all day. spent a few hours walking around outside yesterday since it was sooooo gorgeous, and now i've got a sunburn on my shoulders and neck/chest.

i usually just use some aloe lotion to cool it out and keep it moisturized. seems to do the trick.

ALOE!

Anything with or pure aloe itself works wonders C! Last Canada day I got theeeee worst sun burn that I've had in years. It itched so bad that I pealed for about 2 months straight, I also still have tan lined very visible on my back. I used aloe everyday and the itching was kept to a very very minimal.

hehe good to know i'm not the only one this happens to (but bad for us that it does ) ...yeah lotion seems to work, but only for like 5 minutes...eeek i'm not looking forward to sleeping tonight. maybe benedryl would help, no?

yeah i'm super fair-skinned so i burn way too easily.

if it's too painful for you to sleep, take some ibuprofen and wear loose soft cotton clothing.

worst part of sunburns is not being able to take a hot shower because the hot water burns sooooo bad! i had to take a cool/luke-warm shower this morning.

AGREED!!

One year I had a bad burn that went up into my hair line ( which pealed as well ) and washing my hair was bad because I really couldn't scrub.

Being pale sucks in the summer, although after the burn I get a beautiful tan, the burn before hand makes it not really worth it.

solution thats worked the best for me?
have a few drinks before you sleep so you won't notice it as much
it shouldn't be strong enough to wake you back up, so if you can get to sleep you should be fine
