People don't care?

Me and a friend of mine are arguing about discovering new trance songs. Basically, I'm saying that knowing who makes a song is important for discovering new music. But, my friend says, "People who listen to trance don't give a damn who makes it". My friends reasoning behind this is, "the people that do want to know who made the song want to know so that they can download mp3s". What does everyone feel about this subject?

yeah i do.......like i won't listen to darude or atb because i don't like them. I care who makes it, ask your friends the same thing because i think any metal that is made (any metalhead would like) but really you gotta stop listening to what ppl say and liking what you like because you like it.

good point. a lot of people say this but no one fully takes that path. I guess it's human nature.

torontotrance, i think you misunderstood the topic.

I think it has to do more with whether you care who produced the song. Do you want to know that midway (for example) just made that amazing new song you're listening to? Or is just listening to the song all you care about.

Personally, I absolutely need to know who made a track and the song's name before I'll listen to it. Or else it drives me crazy... cause i need to know

It's important to like what you like, but be open to new stuff. Even if it's from an artist you don't like. If your friend says give it a try, do. If it sucks, say so.

Also, I definitely like to know what I'm listening to. Drives me nuts when I don't know the artists name of a song I love.

Yes I know all too well the frustration of hearing a great track at a rave and not knowing what the hell it's called.

Yeah of course, we all know that feeling I guess, but... you'd still like that song wouldn't you? I think ( might be wrong here ) that cbxzcm's talking about the type of ppl who ONLY listen to songs by "well known top 40" producers...(I'd rather not call them artists )

You're all right but that's just us TA's (And the rest of the music freaks), when the average clubber (In my area, that is) hears a track he would usually not care that much about the depth cause here they just like the boom boom of the kick. Either that or they would care who the artist is, just because they want a hit, so a song by Tiesto would be accepted with arms wide open the moment it's (the moment they know it's Tijs) Tiesto, just because it is Tiesto (or PvD or Cosmic Gate or Yahel or whoever) but if it's not one o fthe big hits, then uh who cares, let's not listen to it... Public is commercial, commercial is public.

I'll listen to anything and make my own judgements, it's just that we've come to expect a degree of excellency from the likes of Tiesto, PvD, Yahel, etc. So there are higher expectations.

It's kind of like that, but slightly different. Lets say you hear a song you never heard before, and it's completely mind blowing. Isn't it worth knowing who made that song? My friend says it's not that important.
