Question i'm question!

i'm going to start now to take the route of burning each track to a cd and labeling the cd with it's info.. was wondering because i have traktor also, you think using traktor to find out a track's bpm is accurate?

also was wondering because i heard some people saying that when they burn the cd's they bring down the speed to 8x or around there... any reason for this?

thanks everyone

BPM counter in traktor is pretty acurate although I think mixmeister is usually better at BPM guesses ...

about the speed yes, audio CDs should be burnt at the lowest possible speed...it generates less errors and helps prevent skipping on older/crappier players.

You'll hear many people telling you that you CAN burn your audio CDs at 48x or more...yes...but once you'll be out in a club which has this crappy american audio CDJs you'll be fucked cuz your entire collection will be unplayable.

download the ableton live demo and just warp the tracks manually and you'll get perfect bpm counts up to hundreths of a bpm

I thought of that too...but actually when the track drifts it's hard to get it to an exact value because ableton's way of beatmatching is a bit different...that's why I recommended mixmeister's engine or traktor...simply because it's more traditional for someone who presumably uses CDJs

Serato will give you more accurate BPM's than Mixmeister IMO. Also, iTunes will display the Mixmeister BPMs all weird... Something like this 57936. WTF, but it will show Serato's correctly. You can download Serato for FREE here... www.ScratchLive.net/forum

Well I don't if it could be more accurate, beacuse in my experience Mixmeister BPM Analyzer has 99.8% Accuracy =)

Here's a great tip to find the exact bpm of a track in Traktor. Insert a beat grid on the first visible beat of the track and then move forwards about one minute or so to see how far the beat grid has moved away from the waveform. Manually adjust the bpm until the beat grid falls into place, and keep repeating this until you reach the end of the track. You will notice that the further through the track you go, the greater the movement of the beat grid as you adjust the bpm by even just 0.01. Its hard to explain but it works out the bpm exactly and it had always worked for me. I always use the beat grid, it's pointless if you dont coz its amazing sometimes how Traktor is inacccurate at guessing. Sometimes it will work out the bpm as e.g. 140.33 and the final result with the beat grid will be 140.00. What a difference. And it is correct because I have synchrinised 2 tracks to the same bpm and burned them onto cd, then beat matched them on my CDJ's both set at 0 tempo, and the beats have matched perfectly for 5 mins or more, trust me!
