External Sound Card (W/ Line Input)

Ok guys, im a DJ not a producer but i figured you guys would be able to help me out a bit better with this. My old laptop just died and i had to go get a new one. Got a great deal on a nice laptop only problem for me is it doesn't have a line in on the sound card. So i am gonna have to get some sort of soundcard for it. I know a built in card wont work well (or at all) on a laptop (am i right in thinking that?) so basically im left with an external card or something a mate just told me about, a laptop PC card (i dont think thats the offical name). So i need some recomendations on what to get. All i need it to do is record mixes from my mixer (so it needs a line in on it) it also needs to be very portable because i often carry my laptop round to events to record. What would you guys get in my situation? I dont have all the money in the world but i dont mind spending a bit.

Thanks for your help guys, its rly appreciated

Chris

chris lots of options for you, you need something with a good sampling rate and most of the new cards will have it.

is your new laptop a PC... with firewire? if so.. MOTU makes great cards and so does Lexicon(for good and inexpensive).

the reality is you'll probably only need to spend $150-$200 for what you need and probalby will never outgrow it.
