Deliberation of Trance
I've been listening to trance for a myraid of years in my lifetime; probably since I was about 7 or so - now 18. My first CD was, "World of Trance Vol. 1". Followed by the Trancemaster collections and Gatecrasher Black/Red/Blue. Then I started listening to the notorious Tiesto.
His pure trance sets in 2000, playing the kind of tunes only euphoria would relate to: Sparkles, Escape From Nowhere, Silence, Synaesthesia, Walhalla, Silent Cry, Sixty Nine Ways and so on. Then in 2002, I brought a lot of the Goskitchen selections, also listening to Tiesto: playing tuens such as, Cafe Del Mar, Love Washes Over, Silver Bath, Save Me, U Write The Rules. But I also found that he was incorporating a lot of House and up and coming progressive trance, straying away from where he was. However, his Magik collection was filled with progressive so I guess he started early on. But as I was growing up, he was an uplifting DJ for me.
In 2003 and 2004, his style changed rapidly, playing tunes like Recreate by Hertz, Senorita, Phantazmz, El Toro, and Tribal Shock.
As I can see today, his style has lopsided, relating more to the genre of House/Electro/Progressive.
What I'm trying to discuss is the impact of House and its derivitives.
I started to DJ 3 years ago, but never went anywhere. I would Dj till the cows came home, everyday. Buying records from DJ DANJO, Vadim, Aly & Fila, Tiesto, Second Sun, Sundawner, ATN, Armin Van Buuren, PVD and so on, mainly uplifting trance. But as the underage scene sees trance these days through that Tricky Nation ****, I couldn't penetrate the House music barrier that was emerging, and the Electro that followed. Playing uplifting can only get you so far I guess, 8 wonders are still a great listen for it. But as I've seen, Ronski Speed wasn't well danced to @ TN. This genre of Tech-Trance and Progressive Tech seems to be taking over. SVD and Mac Zimms kind of stuff. That sharp, stomping Tech Trance. Tiesto in this case, has converted mainly to his Prog/House style, playing the odd Trance CD.
In conclusion, Armin van Buuren is one of the pack, playing what I love, using his status to keep it alive, or whats left of it.
These are just some thought out opinions i wanted to illustrate. Reply if you want to anything I've listed incorrectly.
