Which do you prefer from a DJ: Amazing songs or Amazing crowd interaction
Sorry for the long title I wanted everyone to see the options before clicking on the thread. Soooooooo what do you prefer more when going to an event? Having a DJ spin some really good tracks and have it flow properly or having a DJ play ok tracks with ok mixing yet have him/her just totally rock the place with their energy and moving crowd interactions??
Would be interesting to see what some of you TOTAs enjoy better - maybe you've experienced both numerous times and have a better understanding but what I experienced last week at o lounge for glaude/jelo was NUTS. Gotta admit the flowing wasnt too well but DAMN they sure rocked the fuckin party with their antics and energy....
Obviously both is prefered but for this thread you gotta only pick one
So what do you choose...

If I would just wanted to hear a good set, I would listen to it at home.
Crowd interaction is a MUST

It isn't a must...I can enjoy a live Digweed set, and he is a dry as they come.
But yeah I agree, a DJ that interacts with the crowd generally makes for a better night. But something can be said for the energy a crowd brings to the event.
Good crowd -> Impressed DJ -> Better set -> Great night.

Anyone who's seen Armin Van Buuren knows that his crowd interaction is amazing and makes for a much better night... Picotto was awesome at it too when he was around 3 years ago...

TUNES. it is about the tunes. if the dj doesnt have much crowd interaction i am really not worried about it as long as he or she is delivering a choon fest. crowd interaction just makes it much more better.
i dont go to a club to see the dj put up a jesus pose and jump up and down behind the decks. i go to a club to hear the dj play tunes that will make me jump up and down. if me and dj both can jump up and down with the tunes being there then that is just awesome

I find it annoying when a DJ spends more time flailing around and being the centre of attention rather than working.
I don't mind it if they can do both at the same time, the job of DJing comes first!
crowd interaction IF its appropriate
i think when Benny Benassi spun Guv solo last, he did the whole, writing on signs, and then throwing them to the crowd, i thought that was utterly fantastic.
he wasnt overboard with going nutz, he was modest, signed everything, interacted with the crowd infront/behind everywhere.
but at the same he kept things straight musically.

I find PVD has horrible crowd interaction, but I always love his sets. Both is nice, but 90% of it is about the music they play for me.

+1
I don't like DJs who make crowd interaction seems like an act vice natural.
Good crowd interaction will come if the DJ is also having a rocking good time. (and the DJ is more outgoing/drunk/stoned/high/combo of above)
