Having recently picked up a TT, I've been going through my parents vinyl collection from way back when. Some of these have been untouched since the 70s. I'm wondering what's the best (preferably cheapest) way to clean them.
I'm a vinyl noob.

There is lots of information on this... do some searching. You can make vinyl cleaner yourself for cheap.
Most important thing is storage, keeping it vertical, and away from heat.

Funny story, my old cat, Budweiser, actually got really sick one from eating one of my dad's old records, might have been a "The Police" vinyl, not sure.
The cat I think got most of the way through the record and we had to pay like $1300 in vet bills to have him operated on to get Sting taken out of his belly!

Question: Why the hell was your cat eating vinyl of all things in the first place?
