Cubase SE Midi Question,,,,

Would anyone know how to set this software up to accept my E-MU midi keyboard? I want the midi device to run a VST Instrument but I am having trouble setting it up. And how do you go about using your VST Instruments to build a track with?

Thanks for any help! It is ALWAYS appreciated!

Mike

Just go to the midi prefs in your software and choose your E-Mu midi keyboard as your midi input.
Then once your midi keyboard is set up it will play your vst's

It's just a case of setting up your software! Once you choose the controler in the midi prefs it will become active.

It's the same whne you get a new soundcard and your software uses the default sound driver, you need to go into prefs and choose your new soundcard asio driver as the software dosent do it for you.

Enjoy making music

Ok. Is it going to matter that I am running my keyboard thru my M-Audio Firewire Interface? Is that going to change any of the settings? I have the midi OUT on the keyboard going into the midi IN on the M-Audio soundcard, and the soundcard is then ran into my G4 thru a firewire cable. Does that sound alright to you so far. Plus, there is a USB cable that is ran from the keyboard to the laptop. Do I even need that USB cable connected to the laptop if I am running thru my soundcard with the midi cable?

Once you change the settings they normally wont change until you change them.

I have the midi out from my keyboard going to the midi in on my Delta 1010 soundcard.

Some people have differnt types of midi in their computers, some have usb midi and some just have standard cable like me.

If you have a usb keyboard then you choose that keyboard in the midi settings of your software.

If you have a Delta 1010 soundcard then you choose the Delta 1010 midi in Fruity.

You have a firewire card with midi ports built in you choose the firewire midi ports in the software your using.

Firewire is just really good for music with it being so fast,it's a lot faster than usb.

You just choose the firewire asio driver's in the audio set up of your music software.

Your midi keyboard/controller is just a doorway into the software to play the instruments.
There can be a few doors you can leave open to play the instruments, it's just a case of chooseing the door in the midi set up.
