Holy hang over batman! i'm def hurtin today......Armin threw down a good set. He started off the night with some good tracks, and kept the energy high the entire night. I thought the first hour or so was ok, lots of good tracks, but nothing really mind blowing. After the first hour though, he turned it up and really startin bangin it out and playing some absolute floor killers. Mixing was pretty on point as usual, but the the music was really loud Avalon ususally has the sound tweaked pretty well, and every range sounded good, but it was wasjust really loud.
It was pretty packed on the main floor and it got really hot out there too. So me and my girl ended up dancing on the sides for a bit, but too much traffic there forced up stairs, which worked out great. We where right behind the dj booth up stairs, and there's a lil spot in between the stairs and a vip section (where i saw i kid i went to high school with like 5 years ago--random). It was a lot less crowded, great view of the crowd and lights, no pushing, sound was a loud but not deafening and there was a ton of air flow to cool us down.
Major props to avalon for finally getting some good lighting !! It was no stellar design sick ass laser show, but def the best lights avalon has had in several year imo. The racks they usually have are cool, but i was never really a big fan. Those new lights were almost like a laser in the sense that you could see the beams of light but they werent as powerful or making cool designs.
Great to hear: Bedrock - Heaven Scent (Greg Downey Remix),
Way Out West-The Fall(Richard Durand),
Jose Gonzales - Crosses (Danilo Ercole Bootleg mix)
Nic Chagall - What You Need (Hard Dub Re Edit)
Over all, excellent night. I tihnk most people will say that when you go out and see Armin, you expect a high quality show and good time, and he has never dissapointed me.
