Digging through some old CDs...

And I found this:

Hmm. Well. What's so special about this specific CD that might warrant its own topic?

Why don't we flip it around to see.

Anything catch your eye?

If not, look a bit closer at the major point of interest.

Yup. That's right. Halo RTS. Not quite FPS yet.

I forgot I had this. Kinda cool. Possibly some value to it? I'm looking for the actual video on the web so that I could show you guys but I can't seem to find it. That's odd.

Anyways, anyone got something of the same sort? In other words, some sort of pre-finalized game materials, whether they be screenshots (in books, internet, etc...), videos, demos or actual game hacks. POST EM!

Take my word for it.

The closest thing in the preview that makes it sound the RTS is the "squad tactics" part.

From Wiki:

quote:
On July 21, 1999, during the Macworld Conference & Expo, Steve Jobs announced that Halo would be released for Mac OS and Windows simultaneously.[52] Before this public announcement, game industry journalists under a non-disclosure agreement had previewed the game in a private showing during E3 1999,[53] and were reportedly amazed.[52][53] Bungie Studios later stated an even earlier development build of the game centered on real-time strategy and was "basically Myth in a sci-fi universe."[54]

That's pretty damn cool. I remember reading about Halo back in the day. Originally it started off as an RTS for both Mac and PC....then I'd say around 2000 Halo converted into an FPS, and it was supposed to launch on both the PC and PS2...thats right..PS2. Then MS bought Bungie, forcing Halo to be an Xbox exclusive.

there used to be an australian version of pc gamer magazine which was pretty cool until it stopped suddenly and was never heard from again

and speaking of old cds, i bought my first issue of hyper magazine (an australian games one) because it had a cover cd with some adventure game on it, that didn't end up working on our computer anyway because it didnt like our sound blaster or something lol
