Pictures | Reviews | Notes::: Armin @ LL - 4/14/07

I just decided to kinda separate the present from the past. Hopefully it works out but I started a new thread so that Steve and others with pics can post here.

Pictures taken with my Samsung SGH-E900 Cellular.

My review of last night.

Dallas Road Trip

Driving through Dallas with Lizandro and Tiffany, jamming out to just about anything with a sprinkle of trance on it.

Road Trip & Driving To Lizard Lounge

We arrive at Lizard Lounge and meet up with Mike (aka BiggieStuFF...or B.I.G. lol) I gotta say that throwing it at Lizard Lounge was probably the worse idea ever. The club looks pretty cool inside and the set up couldn't be much better, but when a dj's booking agent has screwed up his/her tour and needs a last minute booking, it is something that needs to be more closely looked at in my point of view. Lizard Lounge was horrible for a last minute booking. Armin is in high demand right now and that's something that needed to be discussed before booking him. Without a doubt, LL was overfilled. Steve and I are standing at the bar waiting on 3 jack n' cokes, and it pretty much made us laugh to see the amount of people that were lined up and cutting in front of us and others to get drinks. And then the suicidal part of that was trying to get back into the main dance floor. LL was hot as hell and if it weren't because my friends were there I would have seriously ditched the show and gone elsewhere.

Overall Armin rocked out. The beautiful Stephanie and I were upstairs at the VIP hanging out over the crowd watching Dj Dan spin. Dj Dan wasn;t that bad, but just the idea of having 3 house dj's open up for a trance dj just kinda turned things off for me. Steph had mentioned that Armin would be passing by behind us to get to the dj booth. As soon as she said that, my head turned that direction and I never once looked away but only to chat with Steph and her bf, who by the way is one cool guy. I see Armin walk out, followed by about 10 bouncers. My heart fucking dropped. I told Steph that he'd been passing through and just as I said that the poor girl almost teared up.

I have 2 vinyls in my hands (one is Lizandro's and one mine (burned with desire) ready to be autographed. I tell Steph I'm leaving them to go down to the crowd, which was another nightmare getting through that crowd, but I didn't regret. Armin opened the show just as he did in AHOY - ROTTERDAM. The crowd is going wild, then that sound of heart beating is thrown down in our faces. Armin fucking lays that shit down and my adrenaline is uncontrollably flowing, my blood begins to boil. The choir follows through in Armin's intro. I get chills down my spine. I look to my side and I realize I'm not the only one with tears in their eyes. Armin increases the high tones and drops the low tones. The flanger is engaged to the point where my eardrums just want to burst. He then slams down the bass on that track, and I'm in what the man calls "A State of Trance". This is real.

The night was young and Armin had some dirty ass tracks in there. Probably my "Tune of the Night" is by far Michael Dow's "Ascend". I heard that track coming in through those speakers and I lost it. Armin laid it down perfectly and that transition especially went through like a hot knife in butter. I held my vinyls up and after some serious pushing and shoving, finally got them autographed.

AFTER-PARTY @ CLUB JONAS

I gotta lay it down like this. I have to say that these guys are some of the most loyal, not to mention bad ass people I've ever been with. Steve has one hell of a character and can make anyone laugh. Matt, Cory and Devon (and others), you guys are some of the coolest people I've been around. We gotta admit though that at fucking 7am and drinking Jack daniels, we gotta be some of the most drunk ass people anywhere lol. "Kitchen Sessions" is the name given to the most miraculous mix this board will ever witness. Lizandro started with some bad ass progressive, and as I consider him this kid is probably the most influential person I've come across with in my entire history of listening to trance music. Matt sits in with the Apple and fires up Serato.

Benjamin D. Hoooooly fucking shit man. Cory I gotta say bro you're fucking talented. Damn it if no one has ever listened to this guy spin you guys are in for some SERIOUS shit here. From song choice to transitions Cory just blows me away. I could have sworn I was back at Lizard Lounge listening to Armin when i heard Cory throw it down. He throws in the Whippenberg mix of Needs To Feel and that's when I knew this guy and I have almost the exact same taste in trance music. What a mix this kid threw down. Pure fucking talent!

Steve (the main headliner) throws it down. Another talented Dj right here if you havent noticed. That one Andrew Bennett Remix just made the night a one of a kind for me. The most beautiful thing guys, the collection of alcohol we had on Steve's counter. That right there my friends, is the most beautiful thing ever. Your TXTA's right beside you and alcohol floating around left and right and the least thing you think about is the time of day and whether you're tired or not. That's when you know you are rolling in the best of circles.

This is one weekend I will never forget. Steve, Lizard, Matt, Cory and Devin, you guys know this isn't the last time we're doing this. "Kitchen Sessions 2" is something I smell around the corner, if ya feel that.
