Reproducing RVDB's Bassline and some Mix questions.

Hi guys,
I know you don't like all those questions but I usually don't do silly or noobish stuff around here so I'm allowed once, right?(though if you read everything you'll see it's not so noobish)
Well I've been listening lately to -
Ron Van Den Beuken - Alcatraz (original mix)
and I was kind of captured by that bass so I tried to reproduce something like it and I got close but not as much as I want to, I'm lacking that sharpness the original got.
I'm assuming it's a Saw wave with some Overdrive on it but I'm still lacking some other important details.
I was hoping you guys could help me out here.
I'm using Absynth for it, tell me if you got something else on your mind that would bring me closer to the one I want.

Also, I was wondering about the mix, the bass is delayed as far as I can hear and the line goes over the kick (meaning it's probably not sidechaind). how come the bass ain't pushing the low end of the kick out? is it basic compression or a bit farther into the fx (explaination would be lovely)?

Many thanks you guys!

RVDB has always produced well-made trance basslines.

Hmmm it sounds like a sub bass, with a mid-bass layered on top with slight delay panned to the left. The mid-bass sounds like it has some distortion.

Probably cause it's a stereo delay which delays the signal hard left and hard right while the kick sits in the center of the mix. And the stereo delay is applied on the top layer of the bass which helps also.

If you listen the main part you hear is not the bass but a mid bass part of the top , there is another bassy part lower down in the mix.

It appears that they both play

KB--(KB)---KB-BK-B- Mid synth part with stereo delay (KB) = kick / bass together

KB-BK-B-KB-BK-B-
