DJ's having "distinct sounds" for different areas

What sound or direction is a DJ known for playing when he plays a set in a certain area?

I.E. - Sasha & Digweed's "Twilo" sound in NYC back in the late 90's, etc.

I think there are many great examples of DJ's breaking barriers and expressing different sounds to the many club goers, but by far hearing Armin Van Buuren playing electro house remixes of 80's rock songs HAS to be amongst the candidates in this discussion (universally, he does not discriminate by location).

i didnt realise p00p had an actual sound until a friend played me Van Boring's radio show with a remix of Bryan Adam's "Run To You".

Why God, why?

Danny Howells always plays really shitty techno after 1:30am when he plays in LA. You can literally set your watch it to it.

"wooo Danny!! Danny yeah!! woo!!...what the hell...what's that? oh shit what time is it? OH GREAT "

reminds me of when Matthew Dear suddenly tossed in 'White Horse' about two hours in.

He later explained that "yeah, whenever I get really drunk, I always wind up throwing in 'White Horse,' and it's pretty much 'anything goes' from then on out."
