Thumbs up REVIEW: The Plaza Club, Vancouver

Sorry if this is kind of long.....

Well last night I went to the Plaza downtown for a friends birthday. I really didnt know what to expect as I have been hearing mixed reviews about the place ever since it opend up. I tend not to have a very good time at clubs but last night kicked ass, havnt had a night like that in such a long time.

This is by far one of the nicest clubs in the Downtown area, i felt so classy just being in there The music was better then i expected, it was pretty much anthem trance all night with a bit of funky house spun by some DJ i have never heard before. The crowd was pretty cool as well, lots of younger people but i pretty much stuck with my group for most of the night. All you TA's with fake ID shouldnt have a problem getting in, it didnt look like the bouncer really gave a shit about how bad the ID's were as long as you had somthing to show. there were probably 10 of us with fakes and there were no problems.

the Lighting was the best i have seen at a club so far, they even had a massive lazer going all night. Im such a sucker for visuals, that kind of shit enhances everything so much. Oh ya and the Sound system was sooooo good.

my only complaint is that drinks were pretty expensive, I dont usually drink much when i go to a club anyway (to scared of making an ass of myself) so it wasnt to much of a problem.

NOTE: Friday and Saturday nights there is a dress code "Dress to Impress" as they put it. No running shoes, baseball hats, or t-shirts. Hehe i wasnt a fan of this at first, but its kind of fun getting all dressed with a group of friends to go clubbing.

Almost forgot, Dave Seaman will be playing there on the 13th, ill probably be checking it out.

Ok so all you western Canada TA's, lets start reviewing the clubs around our citys. I know good club nights are few in vancity but there is good shit out there, lets hear your reviews of the local clubs you have been checking out so we know what worth going to.

I was at the Sonar last night. That place is really nice! I like the type of music they play too especially up the stairs in the lounge.

The Plaza is one of the nicer venues in downtown. Those stairs are pretty steep when you are felling tipsy though.

I thought wet bar was pretty nice last time I was there.

As for the dress code. I think It makes the club better when the people inside are dressed up nice. Especially the women. .These nothing worse than dressing up going to a classy club and seeing people the wearing old jogging pants and nike t-shirt.

Ya Wett Bar is pretty nice, the lights in the floor are pretty cool. I was going there for "Lime" every thursday for almost a year.

On Saturday night at the plaza the bouncer was going up and down the line telling people with running shoes to "take a hike". hehe it was kinda funny

ya man Tiesto played at the commadore, its right across the street from the plaza. The plaza is fairly new been around for less then a year i think.

Woo guys dont go there on saturday expecting all trance. Like i said there is lots of house, some top 40, and some anthem trance....like cheese trance but it suites the club

Like ATB, well I give the Plaza more credit than that.

J/K

Did they play Voodoo & Serano - Blood is Pumping? I heard that track every time I have been there.
