I have always had problems when I played out in my home town becase local djs get drunk and want to play (starting to be intrusive).
Now I was thinking to get cd recorded for this guys with tracks with dynamic speed alias bpm changing (lets say for gradually +-4bpm).
I would just leave them play this cd when they come to bother.
What do you think? Anyone tried this tactic?

Edit: woops disregard my lack of reading properly..
When you play out, dont you guys have like set times and shit that yorue booked to and whatnot, the other djs should learn to respect that.. and if they're not even supposed to spin there you shouldnt let them,i really dont know the situation you have there

Ahhh - I get it. You want to have them try to mix with special CDs that have variable BPMs. That would be a good trick to play on those drunks!

There's a guy that lives with my friend who likes to DJ but sucks. He had been out of the country for a couple months and I bought a new mixer with fader start. When he got back he was being pushy to play some music and since he uses the crossfader I put on fader start and he didn't know what it was... Couldn't get a mix right and left because he couldn't figure out why the music was starting before he wanted it to

i then wondered why the amazing race was called the amazing race and not the amazing rave since so many ppl on that show seem fucked up

The downside to that is that if he then decides to go to the bar just to get another you get stuck with a track that has BPMs going all over the place and it's going to make you look bad.
Saying that, I know the type and they can be a royal pain in the ass. I personally hate them but only really enounter them when I do private parties and occasionaly at pre-club bars.
The other thing I hate is when the guy before me plays 30 minutes into my time slot, I used to get that a lot as a younger DJ. Thankfully these days I have it written into my contract that I can walk if it suits me and still get paid. If you are playing a double header that night it can really suck if they expect you to play two hours but their mate has been arsing around prior to me.
This really pisses me off if I have a double header that involves travel, mainly because the promoter will always try and play tough if I only do 1:30 instead of 2 hours.
Back to matter at hand though, don't feck around with BPMs and stuff, or mess with the mixer settings for that matter. It's totally unprofessional even though it's tempting, your job is to make the night go well for the punters. If you are rocking the crowd well enough, they will soon let the promoter know. If you don't have a promoter then you just have to rely on crowd reaction. Just make sure you do your job well.
