Presence of Vinyl in Different Genres?

I thought of posting in the DJ Booth, but decided MD would cast a wider net.

Where does vinyl stand in different EDM subgenres? I can understand its evaporation in popular trance and post-progressive, especially in the got-it-before-you era of disposable production, but what about other styles?

Scratching is the modus operandi of Hip-Hop and DnB, so their retention of records is easily understood.

I hear of sizeable resistance to digital in the techno world. How true is this? What's the thought?

What about house? Any comment from the house community about how digital affects "soul"?

Others?

i think the switch into digital is present in genres like techno & house & breaks, like dave clarke plays off cd's nowadays, plenty of house jocks also play strictly off cd's. you always gonna have the hardcore oldschool community within certain genres who goes playing strictly off vinyl and they are going to argue about richness in sound like any vinylenthusiasts, but when it comes to the highly ranked jocks, but alot of them are becoming converts aswell. i mean it's not many dubplates or promo vinyls being sorted to them anymore, they just get the cdr or the 320mp3 or flac just like way ahead of everyone else.

it's also come to the fact to people that it's about the music and the actual content, the tunes and not the format it's played off

i still think there is a ton of music that isn't available in digital format so people that just limit themselves to a selection of digital tracks are kinda limiting themselves.

what i'm curious about is...honestly how much do people really think they are saving by going all digital? i was looking at beatport the other day and it's like $2.50 for a new release. if you get a record that had 4 tracks on it for 8-12 bucks seems like that is pretty comparable. i guess the only advantage of digital that i see is you get to pick & choose exactly which tunes you buy.

i'm also kinda curious to see what will happen to digital prices as we become more and more dependent on them. the price will probably go up...
