Port Fowarding fTW!

um...I can usually download from certain sites around 300/kps for the entire download.

Other stuff is slower but anything under 50/kps is unacceptable to me!

even with ports open on the router, one still needs to make sure that their Bit Torrent client settings are properly arranged. Having a reasonable upload speed limit, reasonable amount of connections per torrent, slots per torrent etc etc etc are just as important as open ports. oh also make sure the port you open is listed as the incoming TCP listen port.

you can check all your settings via Tools and options in your torrent client and you can also google for more general help about the recommended settings for your torrent client.

Yeah...what he said lol.

There are tons of tutorials on the web for each different torrent client and help you maximize your download/uploads. i'm sure there are some Wiki's out there that have been created.

Your ISP is probably packet shaping torrent traffic, it definitely appears that way by looking your average upload speed. Protocol encryption used to work well but ISP's got smart and figured out how to control that feature. You may want to take a look at http://www.secureix.com and setup a free VPN which will probably get around your ISP's throttling.

Cheers!
