Sorry, I can't comment. I was eaten for breakfast.
But seriously, it was amazing. I'm trying to get some pictures of my visit. Will update this later.
The whole thing was all rather bizarre to be honest, as soon as i got off the plane i never seen another white person until I got back on the plane. I went to Lahore first, then we drove two hours south to Faislabad, which is a very very poor place even by Pakistani standards. My friend never knew i was coming to his wedding and he got a bit of a shock when he first seen me "You big white prick!!!!" was his initial comment.
His stepdad has an a amazing house, 3 floors, garden approximately the size of a footy pitch. Cigarettes were about 7 pence a packet so i was smoking a fair amount. Bottles of juice are about 3p. Everyone stared, wherever I went, but it was more out of curiosity and I never really felt threatened at all.
The wedding was something else, theres a party 2 days before called a Mendhi, which means Henna, that paint asian women are sometimes seen wearing, where basically everyone dances around and gives money to these two drummers who were solid drumming for about 7 hours while we all danced. My friends now brother in law had a dance off with a pakistani transvestite, i loled. I danced for a bit and everyone was going mental and cheering. Every person I met through my best mate, if they were a guy, they told me i was the only white person they'd ever met or I should be a wrestler. All the girls are very shy at first but most of them usually plucked up the courage to ask if i was married and that they'd never seen blue eyes before, it was pretty surreal. I got 6 marriage proposals over there in two weeks, they are just marriage crazy.
I got some pimp gear for the actual marriage ceremony, things called Schwarkamis, or that's what it sounded like they were. Cream and gold fancy looking pajamas basically. And I bought some Cohiba cigars and had a smoke up on stage, it was pimp.
This wedding was different in the sense that my mate was shagging his fiancee before the wedding (may Allah strike him down) , whereas most men over there don't meet their wife till the wedding night.
The only people I felt scared of were the Punjabi Police force, they carried around AK47's and when i was out in the town chatting to my mates fiancee there was a bit of a ruckus because men shouldn't really talk to women out in public so for a slight moment i thought i was going to get shot or arse raped (which is what I hear the policemen do over there).
Another observation I made, Men Shag A Lot Of Other Man Arse over there. As they're not getting any from women, it seems commonplace to bum your best mate and male friends are often seen walking around the streets holding hands. All the guys I met, my friend told me they all had bummed guys at one point or another. Bizarre.
Also, no toilet paper, it's mostly a high pressured hose to the arse. I ate a lot of Okra curry as well. Drank mountain dew as well which was old school.
Any more questions i'll be happy to answer. I've missed out loads but i'll fill stuff in as it comes to me.
