CDJ-800 vs 1000

sometime during the summer I'm planning to get a pair of CDJ's, but I'm still undecided which model to get. I don't need help comparing technical specs, because I can find those on my own and know what they mean. I've used the 1000 MK2 and MK3 for only a brief period of time each. My thoughts are limited to, both were easy enough for me to play a set from the first time I ever used them, but I have no experience with any functionality other than just basic cueing/playing and I'm still MUCH more comfortable with vinyl. Vinyl is just too expensive and bulky for me at this point in my life, so until I can return to a mostly-vinyl regime I need some CD decks.

part of me is tempted to just keep using Ableton and get a MIDI controller of some sort (I've just been using my keyboard/mouse so far), but I'm starting to miss having actual hardware in front of me. I know there are pros and cons to each, but for now I'm going to assume that CD decks are worth having.

So, this question is directed towards people who have significant experience using both or either the CDJ-800 or the CDJ-1000. Is the extra cost of the 1000's justified by their extra functionality/ease of use? Would I experience any significant difficulty with the 800's, or is there a particular compelling reason to pick one over the other? Also, are there any other non-pioneer CD decks that I should investigate as well?

800s are fine if you have a small pee-pee...like our buddy Steve, but if you have a man-sized pee-pee like mine, you need 1000s.

LOL

I figure if all you do will be cueing and such, stick with 800s. However, 1000s have more features that you'll learn to be comfortable with over time and your djing will mature in another direction.

Dave, I don't have a small pee-pee. Your mom just has a cave for a vagina. That's where we went wrong. Banging your mom is like ringing a dinner triangle at chow time.

LOL @ Dinner Triangle

Steve, we're talking about CD decks here. Not primitive honkey paging devices.

Get back on topic!!!

Sorry.

Dave prefers Numark's DJ in a box.
