My friend and I are coming up from Tampa, FL to NYC for a long weekend to celebrate his birthday at the end of July. Can anyone suggest any good clubs that play good trance or house music? I don't see too many parties on the planner except for Tiesto on the 19th and 20th. We've seen him to death so we'd actually prefer to just go to a nice club to enjoy good music and friendly crowd. I used to live in Brooklyn about 5 years ago so I'm somewhat familiar with the area. However, I don't recognize any of the clubs anymore except for Webster Hall. I liked Club Exit and Sound Factory when they existed. We also like clubs like Space, Nocturnal, and Opium Garden (South Beach/Miami clubs). So any club like that or along those lines is what we're looking for. I was hoping to finally get to experience Avalon, previously Limelight but I see that it's no longer. In the meantime, I'll read up on some of the clubs listed here. Thank you!

it seems you want larger clubs, based on your description, so pacha or studio would be your best bets. For a smaller club, Love and Sullivan room are my (and others) favs.

Studio/Mezmor (used to be Crobar NYC) = 28th between 10 and 11th (a block off where Twilo used to be) <-- trance/house/edm acts.

I would RECOMMEND Cielo as well on Little West 12th Street (meatpacking district) near the former Filter14; great sound, great vibe, a GREAT compromise between the BIG megaclubs and small unpretentious ones -- stylish with pretty people YET small venue vibe and great sound. QUITE NICE.

i remember Nocturnal fondly.. such a great place.

Venue wise... I've liked Studio Mezmor the best. I haven't been everywhere.. yet but I can see a resemblance of the Crobar Miami.
