does anyone know of any good charities (besides goodwill) to donate clothes, furniture etc.? and if any of the charities will come to my apartment to pick up the stuff?

red cross! they always are in need of stuff. i think my parents gave my first car to them, haha

Look in the phone book and call a few local churches. Most of them do pick up and will give you a donation to slip to file along with your tax returns.
