Question moving in

hey

i'm moving into an industrial building in williamsburg tomorrow and will be driving from cleveland.

i wanted to get your opinion on whether or not i should take one route or another

just the way it works out i will be probably arriving around the metropolitan area around rush hour on a friday.

i will be taking route 80 all the way at which point i have to decide between

choice A:
take the new jersey turnpike, go across the verrazzano narrows bridge, then take the brooklyn queens expressway to metropolitan ave

choice B
take the george washington bridge to the deegan expressway, go across the triborough bridge, take the brookyln queens expressway to metropolitan ave

choice C
what do you recommend?

which one is going to be more painful?

also - hi, i guess i am going to be a NYTA for at least a year and a half. i was a pretty active deejay who used to play out every weekend in ithaca, ny. i mostly play a lot of very deep, tripped out tech and progressive house. i have a few sets on these forums and i just did a summer promo today. also doing some production work. i work as a freelance graphic designer, but i will be working downtown for a while in an architecture firm

^^^^ LOL, he's gonna hate us.

I would take choice A your going through SI and central NJ so you have less of a chance of hitting traffic.

You are going to be heading in the opposite of traffic so you should be okay.

Either way is gonna suck, no joke, its NYC and we can't drive

Welcome to NY, better make it to Above and Beyond tonight

i-80 to i-280 east to NJT/holland tunnel, then follow the rest.

LOL...I am so not speaking for myself...I learned how to drive in NJ, the land of great drivers

I would just avoid the city if I could especially if you don't normally drive through the city during rush hour.

yeah i guess. but going from north jersey down to SI adds another 45 minutes. it'll probably be about the same. avoid midtown at all costs.

be careful on that drive. When i made that drive in March I was pulled over twice in PA for doing 78 mph. I must have seen at least 10 cops during the 4-5 hour drive in PA.

The holland tunnel approach is probably your best bet, i would just add one thing:

I-280 doesn't take you directly to the holland tunnel. When you get towards the end of 280, about 3 miles past newark, you'll see signs for the turnpike and Jersey City/holland tunnel. You should be able to find it easily by following the Holland Tunnel signs.

You'll know you're going the right way because after you get off 280 you'll drive through the swamp for a bit, then pass over a few drawbridges, cross a mess of an intersection, and then you'll end up going through a tunnel-like roadway that finally leads to the tunnel.

hey

thanks for all your replies and the welcome

ended up doing the triborough bridge route - like someone said i'm sure any way would have sucked

a bigger pain in the ass was driving the rental car back to 49th and 8th and forgetting to fill up the car before i turned it in

so yeah I will likely be at these parties:

Danny Tenaglia & Richie Hawtin @Pacha 06/08/07
Sasha @Cielo 06/14/07
Luke Fair @Sullivan Room 06/16/07
Funk D'Void @Sullivan Room Saturday 06/23/07
Chus & Ceballos @Pacha 06/23/07
Justin Martin @Apt 06/28/07
Mistress Barbara @The Vault 06/29/07

and might make it out to montreal for these

Desyn Masiello @Piknic Electronik 07/01/07
Steve Lawler @Tribe 06/28/07
