Richardson is by far the most qualified and experienced individual in the race.
Which is exactly why he won't get the nomination. Qualified and experienced people tend to not be popular enough.
He is most likely to be the person tagged as a running mate by whomever does get the nod though.
Both Gore and Kerry made mistakes in choosing Senators with sketchy credentials as running mates in the last 2 elections, I doubt the democrats are going to do that again this time. It will be Richardson or Dodd I think.
As much as people dislike Bush, it was the promise of experienced people in high level positions that got him a lot of swing voters in 2000.

I watched the debate tonight. Richardson was definitely one of the best the dems had on the stage, and definitely one of the more qualified candidates. Most of them just sounded like characters from South Park...."Rabble rabble rabble! Listen to me! I was the first person to propose this stupid idea that never went anywhere! Me me me!! Look at me!". The ex-senator from Alaska is great! He calls them all out.

I think that if Hillary gets the nomination, she needs to appoint Richardson as her VP. Richardson will make up for her socialistic views, and it will get her a lot of fiscal votes. Just a strategy I would use.

I heard on AM radio rumors of a Hillary/Richardson alliance.

I didn't watch the debate but from the various analyses I've read in the papers it looks like Richardson completely blew it.

I haven't read many reactions. That's just based on what I saw of him and what I knew about him going in. What sources are you referring to? The only thing I saw this morning had Obama out in front (though I think at least part of that can be attributed to him being in center stage and having a voice that drowns out nearly everyone else on stage. He's well spoken and likeable but didn't necessarily say anything that unique, imho). Biden was almost in a blind rage at times (particularly with respect to the Sudan). Hillary was just a shill, imo. I really hope she doesn't go far. But at the end of the day, things are just getting started and we all have a lot to watch and draw amusement from on both sides in the coming months.
Richardson wore cowboy boots. Yeehaw!

Thinking back to the debate (directed at HTP), Richardson did suggest that the U.S. should boycott the Olympics in China if they don't lean harder on the Sudan. Maybe that's something that the pundits are picking up on as a negative in his performance.

Well Richardson isnt presidential enough. Also, I dont think Obama is as great of a speaker as people make him to be. I thought he was weak yesterday. I think he is weak period. I thought Edwards made a better case for himself, even though I hardly support what the guy said. Anyways, the best ticket for democrats is Hillary and Richardson. For right now at least.
