Question Riddlle me this...

Wrestling trivia: who was the greatest wrestler from the 80s or 90s and why? Not necessarily based on ability or championships, but also on their gimmick and arrest record. Most convincing essay wins a FREE Cubs ticket for tonight's game against the Mariners and an order of pot stickers tomorrow at Vision.

(Someone backed out last minute and I realize no one here likes 80s wrestling, but this is a $50 value so it's worth a couple paragraphs of your time)

King Kong Bundy
Also known as: Daddy Bundy and Boom Boom Bundy
Born Christopher Pallies on November 7, 1957 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, King Kong Bundy began wrestling professionally in 1981. Standing an impressive 6'5" and weighing in at 450 lbs, Bundy was famous for his bald head and black spandex outfit held up by two thin suspenders. Because of his size, he often insisted the referee count to five instead of three to win, which he explained later: "When you were pinned by King Kong Bundy, a three-count wasn't good enough".

A heel from the outset, King Kong Bundy holds the WWE record for the fastest pin, at nine seconds, though he'll probably always be remembered for losing his main event bout to Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania II.

Constantly feuding with Andre the Giant, he also took part in a six-man tag match against fan favorite Hillbilly Jim and his partners Little Beaver and Haiti Kid. The catch? Little Beaver and Haiti Kid were midgets. And if you want to talk about unforgettable, try forgetting a man as big as Bundy elbow-smashing a midget.

Famous finishing move: The Big Splash or Bundy Splash, which is a nice way of saying slamming all of his 450 pounds into someone.

Who else wrestled their way onto our list?

P.S this is not my work of literature.... but i did take the time to look it up, and he seems (imo) like the greatest wrestler of the 80's by far. The Bundy Splash took the cake for me.

It's the American Dream Dusty Rhodes if you will!!

He's dined with Kings & Queens and slept in alleys and dined on pork and beans.

And you gotta love a fat man in polka dots baby!!

The fact that anyone responded to this thread makes me happy. Right now tie between Ben and Milo (only because I met Bundy last week and talked to him about his Married with Children episode). Voting closes soon!

Oh and I should mention Dusty did not show up at said event

Bobby? Neil?

Oh man - this one is difficult. I'm not certain, but my first instinct would be to go with Shawn Michaels. Not only were the Rockers some of the first mainstream "high flyers," but he proved to hold his quite well at both the mid and upper levels of the solo spectrum as well.

His body just took a beating, and some of the best matches of the 90's came from Michaels, not the least of them being his epic series of ladder matches with Scott Hall, better known then as Razor Ramon. Beyond the ring, his character was never too annoying (unless it was meant to be), and he proved to be one of the most versatile personalities in the business, playing both the heel and face exceptionally well.

The combination of character and in ring abilities that Michaels displays has only been matched or beaten by one other man, and that's Mick Foley - I'm just not sure I think he is as well rounded as Michaels is.

Hey... Give Dusty a break. He still works for Vince. And Vince seems to pull all WWE contracted employees from independent events.

But I just want to acknowledge Canada's Greatest Athlete....Iron Mike Sharpe.
