Replacing My numark T125's with technics

Hi. First of all i'm sorry if this is in the wrong section.

I'm looking to replace my numark t125's, which i've had for over 2 years now, with some good quality technic decks. Price isn't really an issue, but i don't want to be spending over £1k ($2k, right).

I have never owned a pair of technic decks, but hear rave reviews about them. Now i would like to buy some. Which ones shall i buy? and where would you suggest buying them from (safe and quick). I'm from England too.

Thanks, Chris.

The Technics 1200-MK2 is the unofficial industry standard. I have had a pair of these for years and they run like they did the day I got them. You should be able to get a pair for well under your price limit.

I don't know stores in the UK, but I would recommend getting a pair used if you can. You can save a lot of money like that. I know a couple people who have a pair of technics decks that were made in the 80's and they still run great.

Try using Craigslist. I'm not sure where in England you are, but here's a link to their directory of cities they have sub-sites for in England:

If you're near london, you might want to check out this listing:

Thanks for the replies guys.

The numark ones i have now are still functionable, but their seems to be a fault in the pitch. The record will just speed up or slow down at regular intervals. So it's time for a change and get some really good quality decks. So i thought of the technics.

I'm in Sheffield, England. I've been browsing thorugh tons of websites that sell dj equipment, and i've also been looking at e-bay. I just want a good, very safe store that seels dj equimpment, that won't let me down. Prefabbly located in England. Also, is there any sort of noticeable difference if you buy brand new technics, or used ones.

Thanks, Chris.

I'm just browsing this website http://www.decks.co.uk/articles/tec...ortal_homepage/

It seems like a good website. Which package woudld you suggest though? I've noticed that some packages are more expensive than other because they have a better mixer. I'm so bothered about the mixer to be honest, i'm more bothered about getting some good quality technic decks.

Which ones these is the better decks?

Technics SL-1210 MK2
Technics SL-1200 MK2
Technics SL-1210 MK5
Technics SL-1200 MK5

I'm trying to work out what the actual difference is between these. Which one would you suggest out these 4?

Or try the Akiyama Acura 4000 or something. Very very high quality. 50% Cheaper and very very close in terms of quality to the Technics. Hollands most renown DJ equipment store actually recommends them over the Technics especially when talking about home use. This could save you 600Euro without disappointing you.

i would go for the mk5 over the mk2, mine have served me very well in the 2 years i had them, and they have a very handy analogue piutch reset button which can be used for making small adjusments when mixing . the only difference between 1200 ans 1210 is the colour, 1200 is silver, 1210 is black

Could any of you just have a look at this page http://www.decks.co.uk/articles/tec...kages_homepage/ and tell me which package to get, with a mixer that enables you to hook it up to your pc.

P.s. i have a laptop, so i don't know if it's possible.

1210s once you go black its very unlikely you'll want to go back to anything else.

i'd get the black mk5's if i were you. do you need a new mixer and headphones as well?
i wouldn't really recommend buying packages like those though, they're not usually worth their price and usually come with some shit gear at least (and there's no point in paying anything for shit gear you'll never need). but if you want to buy some of those and stay under £1000, i'd take the package with the hak 310 or nuo 2.

Yeah, i need new headphones and a mixer too.

What's wrong with the packages? You said they will be cheap equipment, yet i thought technic decks were very good quality. Or do you mean the mixer that comes with it?

I love djing and i got the numark ones about 2 years ago, but i havn't been on them in awhile because there's something wrong with the pitch and some of the sliders on the mixer don't function properly.

Do you suggest buying the decks and the mixer separate then? I don't really need really good mixer, i'm more interested in just buying some good quality long lasting decks.

the way i see it is that there's no point in buying good decks and a crap mixer and crap headphones. but do what suits you best. and what i meant by crap equipment on the packages was mixers and headphones. altho some of those packages had decent mixers, but they were naturally the pricier ones.
