Gabriel & Dresden @ Pacha Sao Paulo, mini-review

So I thought i'd write a quick review, since there are a lot of G&D fans here, and well, Pacha is Sao Paulo's newest mega-club.

Pacha is located about 15 minutes from my apartment (fairly close for SP), which was a bonus. I dined at a restaurant during lunch and received a couple free passes for Pacha that night (Pacha is owned by a group that controls Sirena and several restaurants)...

on to the review!

On arrival, you have the feel of something different, almost an Ibiza feel. Tons of vendors out on the streets selling anything from hot dogs, beer, and mixed drinks (little bars on wheels)...and when you see the drink prices inside, you know why.

Although an industrial area, Pacha does a good job in making you feel like you're about to step into something big from the outside. Everything is white, just like the interior, reminding you of the white isle. Upon passing the mega-line, even with 4 cashiers, I finally made it inside. The place is HUGE. First there's a lounge area with two long bars, and a sushi bar (just like Sirena). The first "room" was closed for the nite, the second "The Domo" was VIP booth seating only (kinda like Supper Club) until 2am.

Past this, is another lounge area, with a brick-oven pizza bar, a nother lounge to the right on a rise (VIP), and the entrance to the outside deck, La Terraza. Beach-board flooring is the name the game, reminiscent of the beach clubs Brazil is famous for. Although the deck is big, complete with DJ booth and bar (the space hosted a We Love Sundays after hours with Lawler recently)...they need to do something to make it feel a little bit more like you aren't in an industrial area. Suprisingly, there's only one tall building in the area...but it's still cool.

When the "The Domo" opened up, everyone filled in, and Dave and Josh took the "decks" (or laptops) at 2:30. I have to say, the domo is friggin cool. Circular in shape, with three levels of vip booths above the center dance floor. It was friggin loud as heck up front. They dropped a typical set of late, everything you'd expect to here, so I am going to focus more on the club. I did show the guys my California ID just to let them know, SF was representing.

The crowd: I don't how this is possible, but I won't complain - I was with 3 girls, and they all agreed - lots of gorgeous women, but the most annoying (and not attractive) dudes. They constantly stare at you and won't leave you alone if you are girl. My friends feel it's the only thing wrong with the place!

I decided to bail at 5:30 after Tracking Treasure Down got dropped (can't stand that song, really). Now I am back in SF for the week. Wish I could stay for all the good stuff in July, but I got to be going back to work in Brazil.

I will be going back to Pacha...but I'll be waiting for someone I really want to see (it's primarily a house music venue.)

Oh yeah the prices:
Male entrance: $50 door
Female entrance: $25 door
Beer: $4.50 and up
Vodka $7 and up a shot
Wiskey $7 and up a hot
Red Bull $9

...until next review
