What do you guys think?

I can play this album back to back all day and never get tired of it. Lyrics are on point, the production is incredible and replay value is great. A record that's 17 years old and still maintains its quality. All 9 tracks are incredible.

Derric May, Kevin Saunderson and Juan Atkins all say it has influenced them.

Sasha was rumored to have said that he wanted to remix it.

When my friend met BT, he told him that he loved the whole record and that it has influenced his work as well.

By 1990, the Belleville Three had already produced their biggest tunes. I'd say DM in general are influential, but I doubt this album was any more influential than the others.

Main thing that 'Violator' brought to the scene was the watershed in the production.

This wasn't the same Depeche Mode from 'The Music For The Masses' period or from the 'Black Celebration' period.

Flood helped to craft this new sound and in many ways this is his baby as well. However, everything that was released after 'Violator' seemed to imitate the sound that DM brought to attention.

I do believe that DM are influental period, but 'Violator' was a complete shift from the New Order influenced electronic rock (which hasn't aged well, I prefer anything from Joy Division) into a more hip-hop/techno/house influenced sound.

u can definetly hear the influence of dance music on the record and its evolution to an extent. especially on tracks like Halo, World In My Eyes and Enjoy The Silence (which has been remixed to death)

but its not just violator. get the balance right in 83 was a huge record in the detroit house scene. i mean theres a reason theyre one of the most remixed groups out there

One of my favourite albums of all time! I still listen to it pretty often.

I like that album. I remember, that my grandma lost a kidney on the day, I bought that album. She's still alive
