The average score given to this game (according to gamerankings.com) is a 86% - and what I want to know is was I playing the same game as everyone else?
Fuck - this has to be one of the single most disappointing gaming experiences of my life. When the first KOTOR came out, it was amazing. Sure the graphics weren't great, but the story and characters were compelling, and it was great to finally play a good Star Wars game after such a long drought.
So you can imagine my disappointment when, years after reading glowing reviews of KOTOR2, I pick up the game, begin to play it, and realize immediately it's exactly the same game as the first one. The "new" areas were essentially boring re-hashes, every single character bears striking similarities to characters from the first one, and for fucks sake - enough with the amnesia.
Absolutely pitiful experience - and anyone who reviewed this as higher than 5 is off their fucking rocker.

Didn't you read real reviews from decent review sites?
While I'm sure you believe everything IGN tells you, you need to read my original post. Gamerankings.com is hardly constitutes "reviews from Star Wars geeks." They cull the average score from 98 reviews from various sources, and the fact that after 98 reviews it still merited nearly a 90% should mean it would be a solid game.
agreed rjt. Such a dissapointing sequel. When I heard about the sequel I was overjoyed because I thought it wouldn't be too hard to replicate the greatness of the first! Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. So sad too. KOTOR 1 was an incredible game. I wish they remade it so combat would be smoother and a graphics overhaul. DA you have never played KOTOR 2?????

I thought it was agreed that the story in the 2nd one was infuriatingly pointless
lol. RJT if you had really done your homework you would have noticed the professional commentary stating that it was very similar to the first one

More of the same can be a very good thing.
Players of the original game might be disappointed that this game pretty much follows the same structure; the recycling of the "who am I?" angle was a bit of a let down
i thought the game was fantastic, but i never played the first one.

Meh - My homework when it comes to games I pay $4.99 for is generally relatively short (see price, buy because I remember positive reviews)
Beyond which, if all these reviewers acknowledged how horridly redundant the story was, why did 70+ reviewers feel the need to give it 8+ scores?
Honestly - I don't see any way that any self respecting journalist who'd played the first could give it more than a 6.

well, if you got it for 5 bucks...
Lol - I knew someone would play that card, but price really shouldn't have anything to do with it. There's just no way this game is an 8, at any price.
Period.
If anything, the fact that I only paid $5 for it and I'm still this disappointed should say something!
