The Gallery dj competition ... fancy it ...then let it begin!!!
Once again this summer The Gallery at Turnmills is teaming up with Subbass
DJ Academy to bring you the UKs biggest search for new DJ talent. This year
we are happy to welcome onboard The D.J.A. as well to complete an all star
lineup.
The Disc Jockey Association has just launched after three years of
development. Their strapline “Taking Care of DJs” does exactly what it says
on the tin. For those that make it, or want to make it, a D.J.’s career can
be a long, glamorous and lucrative one. But there can also be downsides.
With that in mind and also to establish the professional body for D.J.s, The
D.J.A. has been set-up to ensure that D.J.s, no matter what sex, style or
level, have a service that enables them to make the most of their potential.
Subbass DJ Academy has grown into one of the UKs leading teaching centre's
for DJing and production, with bigname DJs like Mike Koglin and Trevor
Mclacklin starting their DJ careers with courses at Subbass. The Subbass
Tutors are all Pro DJs and Producers. Subbass is very well connected to many
top clubs and labels, and has been able to help DJs get that first gig and
for producers to get their tracks signed.
We will be holding a series of heats at Turnmills in London, the winners of
each heat will progress on the the semi final and then the Final which will
be held on October 18th. All of the heats are open for everyone to attend,
with free entry and special drinks promotions on the night.
The winner will get to play at Turnmills for Gallery alongside the likes of
Tall Paul and Judge Jules. Over the past few years we have found some
amazing new talent and launched many new careers behind the decks.
2006 winner John Bentley played alongside Tall Paul, Sander Van Doorn, John
Askew and Gavyn Mytchel and in 2005 winner Craig Gunn Got to warm up for
Paul Oakenfold and Craig will be back playing the main room in July.
This year judging will be Gavyn Mytchel (The Gallery), Graeme Lloyd
(Subbass) and international DJ Alex P.
If you would like to be the next winner then simply record a 30 minute demo
on a housey or trancey tip on to a CD and then send it to.....
