I'm trying to update my collection with good techno tracks (ala Cox) that are funky, but floor bangers.
You have any names I could look up?
Elton D
Axel K
Valentino Kanzyani
Christian Varela and all thoseare nice, but they don't have that nice funky techno I'm looking for, techno that could almost be mistaken for house if slowed down.
And if you know of any good tribal-techno tracks then by all means!

Check out a lot of the stuff on his Intec label. I also am a big fan of 'Dave the Drummer' and Aaron and Chris Liberator.
Finding good Techno does require a lot of digging and would probably require that you change your playing style. A lot of it is about what you do with the tracks, listen to the likes of Dave Clarke and you will soon realise that their mix ratio in a set is massive compared to a house or trance DJ. It's a lot of fun though. I'm partial to some good techno.
Thanks mates I REALLY appreciate. I'm entering your suggestions into the BP search as we speak.
Nem I kjnow EXACTLY what you mean. For every 25 techno tracks I go through, I'll maybe, MAYBE buy one.
Err, what do you mean 'mix ratio' ?
Cheers!

mix ratio refers to number of songs/unit time

They usually have at least three decks and have two tracks on the go pretty much all the time, so what you hear isn't always a phat track but the DJ making a phat track out of two mediocre tracks. Carl Cox and Dave Clarke... try and get hold of a mix tape or something and check them out and you will see what I mean. Those two make laptop DJs seem pretty lame in my opinion.

Im a Carl Cox whore, but I always seemed to think he just mixed with 2 sources (at least nowadays, I know he did 3 deck mixing)

Why the dig at laptop DJs? I haven't seen many myself, but I bet everyone here has been bored stiff at one time or another by DJs who use conventional equipment.
