Protestent/ Anglicism

Maybe I'm wrong but, is anglicanism just a form or protestentism? Ie. Isn't the term protestentism just a umbrella term for many types of christianity (lutehranism, anglicanism, etc.)

The development of the Protestant and Anglican church took different routes and have some clear differentiating factors.

Christianity branches into Catholicism, Orthodoxy, and in the 16th century Protestantism branched out of Catholicism and is now it own branch.

Protestantism has many braches which include Lutherans, Reformed/Presbyterians, Congregational/United Church of Christ, Evangelical, Charismatic, Baptists, Methodists, Nazarenes, Anabaptists, Seventh-day Adventists, Waldensians and Pentecostals.

Anglican and Episcopal Churches that are descended from the Church of England, don't consider themselves Protestant or Catholic. Rather, they believe that the Church of England wasn't formed during the Reformation but rather broke away from the Church of Rome.

they are of a similar stream of Christianity...they take differing routes in their beliefs, practices, church aesthetics, gender roles and worship but at some point they both adopted a practice of being completely boring.

im anglican and as far as i know the anglican and protestant churches have nothing to do with each other, back in the day the anglican church was part of the catholic church and broke away to form thier own church. thats what i gathered from the priests.

Some big difference though. IIRC Anglicans don't have to go for confessions.

i've always noticed that TAs are very non-religious people (not necessarily referring to anyone in this thread).. either that or they find religious institutions to be largely obsolete/useless.

i could be wrong, maybe it's just Western society nowadays in general

I tend to notice that younger generations are less religious, even if they do have religious parents.
