Coming back for REAL leave
Okay, I'll be back in Cen-Tex on or about 25AUG07 for about 18 days or so for actual leave time (no one had to die for me to be released from Perdition this time). Originally, my diabolical scheme was to hop a flight from Dallas to Sydney AUS for 4-5 days of unrepentant and uninterrupted drunkenness and debauchery punctuated by random hours of inflicting agony on Ballistic, but I've been thwarted temporarily by the need for a passport and can't get one in time, so I have to wait until FEB08 or so for that. In the meantime, anything noteworthy happening in the Dallas-Austin-Santonio triangle worth mentioning between 25AUG and 12SEP I might want to know about?

did you ever think of that?
obviously not

No, I didn't think of that, because that would have been tantamount to wasting the energy to consider the possibility that you would possess the sorcerous powers and/or higher brain function necessary to ensure such a result. More likely, given the circumstances, it's the US State Department's taking 8 fucking weeks to get a passport to a deployed soldier overseas that is the root cause.
I blame Australia for even requiring passports. Aren't they part of America, too?

I hope you have applied already
The estimate that I got last week was,
Expedited, show up in person in Houston 6 - 8 weeks (coworker got stranded there for 3 days last week, printer was broken couldn't print passports)
Normal, 6+ months
Stay safe!
Note to US citizens: Get your passports, one of your few inalienable rights left.

Since you actually travel abroad, I have found it much easier to get everything done at the Consulates or Embassy while abroad. Citizen Services Section, will usually add pages or give you a new passport "while you wait", this hasn't been tested since the new regs. that are causing such a delay, but it is worth a look into.

Just reread your post (ADD is a bitch) pages added while you wait $10 US.

THis is true. I had to get a replacement about 5 years ago whilst in Germany and they obliged me with no problems. To get a replacement in the states would have taken much more time.

Holy shat. I had to take my grandfather to Germany for an emergency business trip and I expedited my passport. I got it in 1 week. That was about two years ago. Why is it pushed so far out now?

cause there's now a mandate that americans travel internationally with passports and most people waited 'til the last minute, resulting in a flooding of the system.
