Upgrading... debating between cdj-800mk2 and cdj-1000mk3

I have finally started getting some gigs and need to upgrade, I feel a bit cheesy going out with my CDJ-200's, my mixer is alright, but I can worry about that later.. its a DJM-400.. an 800 will be its upgrade.

The only thing making this decision hard is the initial money.. Are the CDJ-1000mk3's worth 400 more than the 800mk2's? I've read many many comments and debates over these two decks so right now im a bit torn. I love the MP3 support on the 1000's and the display and wave form display is uber! I also love the temp reset function on the 1000's which allows you to set the slider to 0 wherever its at which is nice so you dont have to go to 10% ect.. I love everything about the 1000's although i havent used 800 or 1000 before.

I know it sounds as if my mind is made up already, but is there anyone out there thats used both that could throw a comment out there? I would be very interested in hearing what you say about the two..

1000s have 0.02 pitch while 800s have 0.05

1000s have waveform display

and that are the big highlights I could tell. Not worth the 1000s for a home setup I would say, but if you got the money to spare, go for it.

Yes, so if your determined not to use .05 then your gonna want 1000's.

800's have a beatcutter

800's have the quick return function

.02 vs .05 is such a joke of an argument im not even going to comment as ive made my opinions clear previously.

the jog dial on the 800mk2 is modelled almost entirely off the feel and tension on the 1000mk2.

while the 800mk2 has built in memory for cue points, the 1000 gives the option of using a memory card and also has the hot cues.

just depends what your looking, since the quick return is geared more towards sampling on the 800mk2 and the hot cues on the 1000 are better for on the fly remixing.

I can assure you either way you will be extremely happy but my personal opinion is that the 1000's arent worth the extra money if money is a factor. Good luck!

For the $800 you'll save on CDJ-800's, you could upgrade something else in your system.

Or buy something like Torq, then your 800's combined with the software will give you everything you like that the 1000's offer, plus more.

And yes, .05% vs .02% is moot.

well put. i just got torq and it essentially adds so much to the already quality features that are on my 800mk2's. waveform, hot cues, loading vst synths, no more burning cds, quick sampling, etc.

indeed... i have been mixing fine with 0.05 pitch settings on my decks until i recently read the manual and figurered out how to change it to smaller increments but really doesnt make a big deal of difference at all lol
