whats the major differences between these 2 mixers? is the 600 just slitghly newer with better sound quality or does it have more features?

also what other 4 channel mixers can you recommend for £300 second hand?

The main difference I remember on the 600 is that it has completely different effects (all the same of the 500 + a sampler and different controls, including a wet/dry knob that the 500 doesn't have), and I *think* (though I'm not certain - don't remember all this off hand) it has slightly better sound quality.

That's pretty much it - it may also have a blend knob, but I can't recall. Definitely worth it to purchase a 600 over a 500 if those are your only two options.

If you don't need all 4 channels or effects, I'd also recommend a Xone 32. If you do want 4 channels, other choices I'd check out in your price range are Denon DNX 1500 (though that may be a bit much), Technics makes a 4 channel that should be in your range (I've never played on it), and maybe a Numark EFX500 (or whatever the devil it's called - quite a few TA's have it and swear by it).

Hope that helps

there are great deals out there on these mixers, i found a brand new in box never opened djm 500 for $485.. i love the way the faders and EQ's feel, and the sound quality is not bad if you have good cables and decent moniters

The 600 actually sounds worse than the 500 due to all the audio being routed through the sampler. The effects are more intuitive, granted, but if we're comparing them on sound quality then the 500 wins every time.

If you have a choice between the two, stick to the DJM600. You have more control over the effects than you do on the 500. Also, the cueing system is better on the 600. You can mix on your headphones. Some connectors on the back of the mixer are different too. Other than that, they're pretty much the same.

Have you considered the DJM3000? It's the same thing as the DJM600, except it's 19" and it has more effects. Plus, you have a ton more input options than you do with the 600.

I just upgraded from the DJM3000 to the DJM800 two weeks ago.

Out of the two the 600 is a bit better, but yes there is a little bit of audiophile stuff about the signal routing. Works fine for a mixer at home or a smaller system, but either the djm800 or an allen heath board would be the ideal situation if sound quality is at the top of the list. - Unless you want the sampler/efx, id almost settle for a djm500 which has been around a while, theres a few in good shape out there.

ive picked up a djm500 for £265, waiting for it to come now

i thought the 500 and 600 had the same EQ, but it seems the 500 only has -20db not -26, is that enough?

Definately have a serious look at the numark 5000fx. I have one and i am suprised the build/sound quality.

The effects are pretty good aswell. And the wet/dry fader and jog wheel gives you great control over them.

It also has a 30 second sampler w/loop feature, xlr outputs for speakers, digital out, master, booth, record, zone outs....

Not bad value for the money.
