Anyone used one of these??

Can it be used for doing mixdowns internally within Cubase?? i.e assigning the faders to the mixer channels?? And using the faderbanks' banks/channels for mixer control??


I was gonna get a Mackie Onyx 1640 but if the controller lets you mixdown internally that would be better for me.

Yes mate, i work full time(not in music), so i have a fair bit of disposable income, i see hardware as a good investment too.

Do you have any experience with the MCU Pro dude??

I considered buying one when I had a job haha. I played around with one for about 20 minutes at the music shop...

If you need a control surface for mixing only, with touch sensitive, motorised faders etc. then really there is no comparison... literally!

I ended up buying a BCF-2000 ($300AUD) just to see how I went with the Mackie protocol. The problem with the BCF-2000 is that it has no LCD display on the unit showing paramters. Instead, it shows them on your computer screen. I found that to be annoying and basically never used the BCF (it's going on Ebay this week). If you can handle looking at your screen rather than where your hands hare to view the parameters, and don't need touch sensitive controls, then get a BCF. It covers all the critical functionality of Mackie controls (levels, EQ, sends, etc.) basically identically (except for $1,500 less). With that in mind, $1,500AUD is a lot to pay for touch sensitive faders and a small LCD screen. I don't see Mackie Controls as offering very good value at all.

Personally, I get the feeling I would have never used it even if it did have LCD readouts. It might just be me, but by the time I had reached for the fader I could have done 5 things by mouse.

I'm probably going to buy a Novation Remote SL Zero in the near future. They have support for the Mackie protocol too, but don't have motorised faders. They do, however, have a full LCD parameter display. The benefit of the Novation stuff is that you get automapping and can use it to control everything, not just your mixer.

If I were you, I would definately try and spend a day or two with each of those three options before you buy one. It's really difficult to tell if any of it will fit in with your workflow!

Had one for over a year. Sold it later, and with the money got from it, got myself a Nord Lead 3 rack. <-- much better investment, and at list I use it a lot. Right now I just use tranzport Alpha track to do what mackie controller did. Takes less space, and it's $250 cdn not $1700 cdn new.. I did enjoy mackie controller at the biggining, but I realized that for the money they want, you can do much better. It's a steep price for some plastic and faders, and lcd that you hardly will look at .. I could buy one right now if i wanted to, but I will not, I'd rather spend the money on something more usefull. But that's just me..

Hey DJDirty, what's that box with a big knob under two LCD monitors? Is that a volume control for your monitors, or a D-A converter too? I am looking for one with either SPDIF or AES input. I am dreaming about converting to all digital DJ and studio signal chain.

It is the SPL volume controller, all analog.

I was thinking of getting it too but the older version, since there's not much difference..

You can have it for $700, do you guys still think its not worth it at that price?

I Was gonna sell the C, and had a buyer who backed out last minute. After getting the ti, I just didn't bother selling C. And ever since it's sitting in the rack happy along his friend Ti.
