Smiley DJ First Track Post [Trance]

A friend of mine suggested I should post my music on this site so I can get better opinions/suggestions toward my music. I have been DJ'ing for a year, and been writing music for around 6 months.

Currently, I have only really been putting my music on newgrounds. This song has managed to make it to number 3 on the top 50 list in trance for a while, but someone came around and gave it a zero for who knows what reason (knocking it off the list).

This isn't the full complete song (I know it ends abruptly, it cuts off before the song is finished). I had to do this so I could upload it to newgrounds.

Suggestions/Comments/Criticism are we'll appreciated, and if you like it, give it a rating on newgrounds!

errrr....sounds a bit outdated. dynamics need to be really worked, mixdown redone, bring out that kick, and you need more surrounding percs to fill in lots of empty space. sounds like the bass as a slight detune which seems off/odd at times....

Sounded okay. quite clean though I'm not listening on the best setup at the moment so cant comment too much on the mixing.

It is very dated but that shouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

The one thing that stood out as being very poor was the percussion or lack of it. I could only really hear a clap and one hi hat. You need a lot more than that to beef it up and give the track a more completed feel.

On the plus side, I read one of the reviews you were given on newgrounds and it seems you have a number 1 fan!!

Listening now...

The begining instantly remined me of another song. I cant think of it atm but i like that song ha!

Nice timbres. I enjoy the melody It does sound a bit dated but i love it. Old trance ftw! Mix sounds clean. I would have used a different kick. I agree with G-Con could use more percs. Listening to it again did you only use a kick and clap?

Over all not bad caught my attention.

What program do you use? I would love to remix this song!

Cheers

Thanks for the comments you guys, and yes... there is very little percussion. I still haven't quite gotten the hang on making any kind of percussion sound good/unique(mainly because I don't really have very good samples to work with). So I tried to make it as instrumentally as possible. I guess that didn't turn out so well. The precussion I did use was: Kick, Reverse Crash, Crash, and Clap. I know the kick isn't very good, but I was trying to go for a hard kick. All the other kick samples I have sound horrible.
