the first time (my FIRST interview), was at northeastern university and there were 6 people interviewing me.

i had an interview today at umass for a job position with three people...

if you just get one person to interview you, that means you suck. that means the first person didn't like you at all and you aren't going to be considered at all for the position.

it's always good to have more than one person interview a candidate to get an overall perspective and give an overall consensus of the job candidate.

Yes, I have, twice.

Both times I was interviewed because of a scholarship I was trying to get. The first time I was nervous as hell, but the second time was relatively easier, because there were a couple of known faces, and because I was really trying to give a good impression.

I succeeded in both interviews

edit: Oh, I forgot to mention there were 5 interviewers in the room in both occasions

i've been interviewed by like 3 people i think at max (not including field training....but that's more of a sadastic form of interviewing).

if you have multiple higher up people, its important i think for them to all get to know you....instead of just one person. i actually prefer more people for an interview, just because you have more thoughts/perceptions about you (2/3 is better than 1 saying no instantly).

well i didn't think about it like that....thanks for all of the input!

it honestly irritates me because i feel like i'm being drilled, and the moment i leave, they will be like "haha does she really think she has a chance?" but now that i read your opinions, i'm thinking about it in a different light...

the northeastern interview was nuts...the room wasn't that bright, and i felt like i was being so drilled. it was almost like i was in a movie and i was a criminal and being interrogated haha. the main interviewer was a complete bitch.

the one i had today, i felt one of them actually liked me, the other one kinda liked me and the last one... i don't feel she liked me all that well... lol.

I went for a job at an airport once and got interviewed by two guys interrogation style. One of them was being passive, asking just a few basic questions and taking notes, while the other one was being aggressive, asking trick questions and lots of detail.

well, this interview was to get into the school... and i sucked at the interview

i didn't get in. however, i really do think it was a blessing in disguise too, because back then in 2003, it was about 30,000 - 32,000$ tuition a year. who knows what it is now?! i admit, i still admire northeastern but when i think about it, we saved a lot of money with me not attending that school!

trick questions... those interviewers act like they've never been interviewed before. i'm sorry, but i would make people feel relaxed when i interview them. i know it's a part of the business process to interview people with asking certain questions, but seriously...

i have learned in smaller companies, there will be smaller # of interviewers(2-3), but bigger institutions/companies, they will have 3-5 interviewers. usually for the bigger places, out of all the interviewers, there would be an HR, division/group manager, sectional manager/president, and if you're lucky, the head honcho.

but it is not true that if you've been interviewed by 1 person, then it's a failure. in the past, i have been interviewed by 1 person and 1 interview and i got the job.

i prefer more interviewers. its easier to conjure up an answer. mostly because your not just catering to a single persons view. they all will normally interject with different questions and views when you answer a question someone else asked. they basically build on each other and your able to sell yourself better. at least thats my opinion.
