Yes, you can have a .dat file found in VCD's recorded onto a cd to be played...
But not by a DVD/VCD player....

Why would you want to do that?
I don't get it.

Ok, so the video is in .mpg format, right?
In that case, yes you can burn it as a normal file and see it on the comp only.

But you would be much better off burning it as a VCD, viewable by your computer and a DVD/VCD player.

you definitly want the second option.

A good VCD authoring software i use is NERO.

visit www.vcdhelp.com for more info.

Anything else/still confused?

I've never seen a VCD player before, wow. That would be pretty cool. I know that the PS2 does not play VCDs! I was pretty pissed that it did not have the feature, since I expected it to do this simple task of playing VCDs. I mean the PS-one plays VCDs with a simple attachment that cost about $59

Hope that helps

ok, i have nero- but like i said, if the ps2 cant, i prolly wont need toe feature, i was just curious. VCD is only really popular in Asia i think. there are so many things the ps2 should have that it doesnt - the biggest thing: Vis FX, thhe psx had it, why not the ps2? heh/
