This is… Sander Kleinenberg

Sander Kleinenberg and Renaissance return to present the first musical installment of his ‘This Is’ moniker...

Sander Kleinenberg is a man who needs little introduction, between his many roles as DJ, label boss and producer he also finds time to host parties under his ‘This Is…’ moniker. With residencies ranging from his native Amsterdam via Paris and Ibiza, alongside countless individual, headline appearances, he has delivered his unique musical vision to the world. Sander himself expands, “"I have always battled the idea of genres and labelling that goes on in today's world. Versatility makes a DJ strong. It makes it easier for them to adjust to different rooms, different countries, different atmospheres in general."

And its this versatility that provides the backbone to the first ‘This Is…’ compilation. "It's like a puzzle”, he says, “You have 28 pieces, and somehow, you are going to make it all work together." And what a puzzle, between each 14-track mix – Left & Right – he weaves a diverse selection of labels and artists sourcing the likes of Disk Jokke from Get Physical off-shoot Kindisch, Tom Novy’s personal tribute to Sander on his ‘Moscow Never Sleeps’ remix and the excellent Gui Boratto re-work of Robert Babicz’ ‘Sin’ – and that’s just the first disc! Turning ‘Right’ we find an acapella from Italy’s Siciana Soul marrying Rhythm & Sound; Nic Fanciulli’s incredible remix of Martin Eyerer & Stephan Hinz; Motorcitysoul taking on David K to stunning effect and the much hyped Dubfire interpretation of Smith & Selway’s ‘Transit Time’ to name but a few; as Sander perfectly sums up, “It’s about merging genres and creating new ones. Enjoy!”

those 2 CDs actually look pretty super .. not the biggest sander fan (both DJwise or productionwise) but tracklisting looks edible by my standards (even with a few older tunes on there)

This is as close as you will get to a classic sounding Sander... its a worth the listen, you just have to put the last 2 cds (pants..) behind him.

I find it most ironic that you have "i liked you better before you sold out" in your signature gumble when you say something like that.

"Party Mix" is a great term for "Sell Out"

Nice to see Sander 'progressing' rather than regressing has been the case for some time now.
