best synth for strings pads....

hello all

my sound is heavily based around pads strings and melody... im currently thinking of investing in hardware because to be honest software just doesnt have the phat sound im after... all the tunes i love from 1998 to 2001 have that anolag sound that im after... tunes from the likes of breeder... raff and freddy..... van dyk.... tiesto around in my memory (when he was good) just on tiesto... dont get me wrong when oakey turned his back on trance.....? tiesto was my hero for a while then he did, he a pirate remix...which i forgave him for ...then elements of life.... sorry mate you have truely losted it....

the diference in my memory and elements of life..... hardware and software..... i dont care how big or small a fan you are of tiesto you have to agreed....

Roland JP-8000/8080 or Access Virus. They're both great for string pads.

about 95% of your post is just ranting. most of those guys are still JP users but synths like atmosphere that are ROMers can emulate just as well.

also hypersonic uses ROMs and synth technology for some great pads

Agreed, Atmosphere is amazing, try Vaz Modular too, a brilliant if not slightly overlooked softsynth

The JP-8080 can make just about any sound you want if you learn how to program it correctly. Same goes for any other hardware OR software synth. In my experience, its not the tools you use, but how well you know how to use them.

I like the pads from the triton rack but the jp-8000 that others suggest would be more veritile, hands on and easier to program!
Also if you are looking for pads check: Atmosphere! This plug-in is the best for pads!
World class sound quality and all the hard work has already been done for you!

And that's a good thing?

Some of the stuff in Atmosphere does sound nice, though.

Success comes knowing your strengths and your weaknesses...
This product is sample based. It has been put together by synth gurus that worked designing and programing the patches for the roland synths for decades! Their experience shines.
Plus they used a worldclass recording studio to make those sounds a studio that is not within the reach of most people making EDM music. I personaly know that I cant ''outdo'' them.
I don't have their knowledge or their budget.
Of course I understand expiramatation is important so you don't sound like everybody else but at the end of the day the listener does not care how you got the sound.
This is the ultimate pad synth for lush pads.
So whenever I want a good pad sound this will be the first place I will look.
