Hey all, I've just got a few questions and if anyone could answer them for me, that'd be great =)

Firstly, a dj friend of mine told me that trance should generally be played around +6 on the pitch fader..is this true?

Secondly, say for example track A has a slow beat and track B which is being mixed in has a fast beat thus you have to decrease the pitch on track B to beatmatch them. Should you slowly increase the pitch back up on track B during the song - just cause a faster beat is more preferable and otherwise wont it also slow down any subsequent tracks with a fast beat?

Thirdly, I'm moving into a flat next week, but unfortunately it's on the top floor in a block of flats, thus I'm assuming the noise will travel downwards and piss off the people below me lol. Does anyone have any methods to prevent or reduce this? Problem is, I'm a student so my budget is reaaally limited =/

if it were me and i was switching from slow to fast and planned on staying fast for a while, yea, i'd want to slowly increase the pitch to match the natural tempo of the faster tracks... I just can't stand listening to fast tracks that have been pitched down more than 1%... in the end it may just be personal preference here too tho.

Your friend knows very little about anything. Disregard his advice in future. Few tracks will sound any good pithed up 6%. Some do but most were designed to be played at a much slower speed, - 0% give or take 2 or 3 before they sound odd.

I think songs that are pitched too far off their original tempo sound lackluster. It just depends on whatever sounds best.

As for your apartment, I would just check it out to see how the sound travels. You might find that it doesn't carry at all.

Hardstyle is the only genre I know of that almost all the tracks at 6%+ sounds good.

when pitched up, I feel like I'm just being rushed through the track, and any groove that could have been is lost.
