Call me oblivious...

... but I am truly amazed how many international (e.g. Finland, China, etc.) people are writing in English--sometimes better than me! I really had no idea that English was so prominent. BTW, I haven't been out of the States yet, so pardon my naivety...

It may seem cool, but it gives a lot of advantages to the non-native speakers, and none to us native English speakers

Makes it easier on foreign holidays though where English isn't the main language. Chances are somebody will understand you if you phrases fail you.

English is the business language, French the language of deplomacy and Mandarin soon to take over everything...also foreigners know English better than you because they learned all the particulars. My mom has been telling me for years she knows English better than us native speakers and its true.

To his defense, Trump didn't even really look like a bum.

Maybe knowing multiple languages makes you more proficient at linguistics in the long run. I know that if I either spoke only french or only english then I wouldn't be as comfortable with either as I am now.
