Wintermute (Psy/techno/Industrial) PRIMER (Dark Ambient Psy/Goa)

Wintermute Mix
...aka
'My neighbours think I sell drugs'
mix

I got bored lately stuck inside because it's too cold to go outside for the last few weeks, so I started fiddling around with mixing again.
It's very bleak, cold and fast, lot of tracks missing I really wanted to throw in there and couldn't seem to get working, but I think it's got more or less the sound I wanted. Sort of a dark acid-techno/Industrial/Psy, heck for awhile I thought about dropping a few Terrorcore tracks on the end of it and they would have fitted in, but my ears where hurting enough... and probably dark and murderous enough to scare the average trance fan into crying as it is.

I gave up long ago sticking 'genres as a label' on my mixes and I gave up caring about sticking to one genre of electronic music.
It just is.

(24-7-07)
Runtime 70mins
160kb/s

CSI - Direct Dizko (Sander Van Doorn Remix)
Laibach - Tanz Mit (Crucified Remix)
Dogzilla - Dogzilla (Mistress Barbara Mix)
Icon of Coil - Transfer Complete (Pitch Black Mix)
VNV Nation - Strata
Hallucinogen - Synthesizzler
Xerox & Passenger - Science is God (Ultravoice Remix)
Hujaboy - Modifications
Xerox & Illumination - Battleship
GMS - Juice (Eskimo Remix)
Cybernetica - Twisted Ideal
Ministry - Burning Inside (Static X .Feat)

And special thanks to Cybernetica for dropping that bad ass new track here on TA so I could really wind this set up with a piledriver of a tune.

PRIMER
(14-8-07)
Runtime 1:15
160kb/s
85mb
Sendspace link

Juno Reactor - Hotaka
Dark Soho - The Fusion
Front Line Assembly - Plasticity (Haujobb Remix)
Cybernetica - Neuromancer
Juno Reactor - Rotorblade
Talamasca - Capricorn
Absolum vs GMS - The Therapy
Xerox & Illumination - Night Shift (remix)
Dark Nebula - Fire Offering
Psychotic Micro vs Exaile - La Putana
Cybernetica - The Promised Land

This was a very hard mix to do and I'm still undecided on how much I like it in terms of flow, it does have a very distinctive feel and sound to it though, which I like.
But find a nightmare to actually cobble together, especially with it being also comparatively long and it can be difficult to actually keep interesting to anyone listening without it turning into a blur of 147bpm hard sounding electronic drums, bass and freaky noises
Hotaka and Promised Land are two tracks I've wanted to use for quite some time though, completely different sounds though, one's a heavy, organic grind and the other's a harsh, electronic rollercoaster.

I don't listen to that type (those types?) of music very often, but that was a wicked mix

Hey Lilith,
thanks for sending me that link, I really wanted to hear this.

Ok, track list looks pretty awesome. Opening with techno and some EDM/industrial, we move more into the trippy Psy area, conclusion with one of my favorite metal/industrial tracks by static X.
Thats what I love about your mixes, you dont stick to one single genre but let the mix evolve between several styles. The dark and cold atmosphere is the consistent element. It works very well, you have a good taste in music

Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed it
Though in retrospect I need to be a little more subtle with the filters in places.
